Program Highlights

Our program tonight was a presentation by our Rebound Exchange Student, Ella Mironescu, back from her year in Japan.
Her presentation showed many great photos of her experiences and new friends with comments on her highlights and best memories. Among her highlights were:
  • Being so warmly welcomed when she first arrived,
  • Riding her bike through rice fields on her way to school.
  • Visiting Buddhist Temples
  • Having students at school reach out and invite her to be friends.
  • A trip to a special Potters Town.
  • Visiting a bath House with a 15- course meal!
  • Getting “certified” to use a samurai sword.
  • Being nipped by a host’s dog but becoming good friends after.
  • Learning Calligraphy.
  • Discovering that she likes raw squid but not salmon.
  • Trips to Tokyo.
  • Learning how to do Japanese drumming.
  • A very emotional trip to Osaka and the museum there.
  • Vising the Snow Monkeys
  • Attending the Cherry Blossom Festival and wearing a kimono.
  • Taking a 7-hour car ride to see sand dunes.
  • Riding a camel.
  • Attending a spectacular Fireworks Festival.
  • Placing first in a local Japanese speaking contest and finishing fourth in a national one.
  • Meeting other exchange students form around the world.
  • Being a part of the Archery Club which became one of her most favourite activities.
  • Having her school friends plan a surprise birthday party for her.
