President Webster called our regular meeting to order at 12:40 PM. He informed members that a key was left at the Clay and Glass Gallery after our Club Turnover last week. Anyone who thinks it may ne theirs should contact John directly.
Our Wine Quiz question for this week was - "Who is the Rotary International President this year?" The answer: John F. Germ.
President Webster dropped the hint that many of the upcoming Wine Quiz Questions will deal with our Online Auction and In Vino Caritas fundraising events.
President Webster is happy that he is now in the role and was running his first club meeting. He was also pleased that he and Sheila hosted the Board Social/Barbeque at his home last week and that the weather for it was fantastic. He is most pleased with the terrific Board of Directors we have this year.
None NovOur still somewhat young pot has grown to $264 and none of Bill Proctor, John Webster, nor Melissa Tummon, were able to find the Jack of Hearts so it will continue to grow next week.
Members are reminded that there will be no meeting on Monday August 1st due to the Civic Holiday. Our meeting next week will feature none other than our vey own Bill Proctor as he makes his first official Club Visit.
The Classification and Membership Development Committee on behalf of the Board of Directors have approved the following proposals for membership in the Rotary Club of Kitchener.
Candidate: Rohit Kumar Classification: Lawyer/Associate Sponsor: Steve Lubczuk.
Candidate: James Rhodes Classification: Lawyer/Taxation Sponsor: Steve Lubczuk.
Any objection to acceptance must be in the hands of Secretary, Cam Yule, in writing, no later than Friday, April 15th.
Our meeting today was the Kick Off for our Annual Car Draw Fundraising campaign chaired by Adrian DeCoo.
KidsAbility CEO Linda Kenny spoke about the tremendous impact our support has for her organization. Last year KidsAbility serviced 6,318 children and we donated $45,000 which directly supported 18 of these needy youngsters. Since 1998 our club has donated $665,000 which resulted in 250 children receiving critical support! Linda also thanked us for our ongoing involvement in and support for the KidsAbility Fun Day which is eagerly anticipated and enjoyed many of the KidsAbility families. Linda informed us that our annual Envelope Stuffing meeting will be at the KidsAbility Kitchener location this year and there will be an opportunity for members to have a tour of that facility (located in the Family Centre, Region of Waterloo Family & Children Services on Hanson Avenue). This year will see the 60th anniversary of KidsAbility and there will be several special events occurring - stay tuned for more details!
Linda then asked Mr. Julian Gordon to speak to us. Julian is the father of the current Child Ambassador for KidsAbility - Wysdom Gordon. Julian told us that during his wife's pregnancy with Wysdom they were informed that there were genetic anomalies in the fetus and that the child would be born with one or more handicaps and that a worst case scenario would be that the child would never walk or talk. They began doing research and soon learned about KidsAbility and when Wysdom was born he began treatment there almost immediately. He spent his kindergarten years at KidsAbility receiving Physical, Occupation and Speech therapy and is today a very active and energetic 8 year old! His development has exceeded their wildest imaginations and he thanks KidsAbility for it and our support of them.
Adrian indicated that our goal this year is to raise $90.000 gross and indicated that we will have several new opportunities for selling this year. He, with the assistance of several of the other Card Draw Committee Members then reviewed some the logistics for the campaign.

Please hand in stubs and money as soon as possible after selling and keep the books together, i.e. do not remove the stubs from the covers.
Keep the cash you collect and write a cheque to the club for the amount being submitted.
Locations:
The St. Jacobs Market every Thursday and Saturday. We now have our own regular location (spot #157 at the South end of the new building). Contact Wayne Boehler if you need a map. We must have the car in position no later than 7:00 a.m. and must not leave prior to 3:30. Adrian will send an email to all members providing a link to a online scheduling system where you can book your time slots or you can sign up at our regular meetings.
As previously announced we will also be selling tickets at the Cambridge RibFest this year - August 5,6 and 7. They have waived the cost of the booth for us but we need to provide some volunteer assistance in return. We need to confirm those assisting as soon as possible. If you are able to help at this event please contact Wayne as soon as possible.
We will also be able to sell tickets at the International Plowing Match in Minto in September, additional Details will be forth coming.
Logistics and Suggestions:
You need to bring your own tickets and float each time you sell tickets.
All other supplies (pens, signs, canopy, table, chairs, etc.) will be in the car.
The car must be picked up at Victoria Star Motors prior to 5:00 p.m. the day prior to selling and must be returned prior to 5:00 p.m. on the selling day.
If you are by yourself in the morning ask for assistance to erect the canopy. One of the neighbouring vendors will willingly assist.
If selling at the market for the first time try to work with a more experience seller.
Rather than split the day it is often a good idea to share the whole day with another seller.
Please remember to advise Bill Proctor of situations which would require some acknowledgement from the club - special anniversaries, illness, celebrations, hospitalizations etc.

I will be out of the office from July 20th until Aug. 8th. Otherwise from May to October I will be in the Rotary office primarily on Monday, then Wednesday afternoon.
