A Better Tent City  We are pleased to share the latest update on the progress of our community project at A Better Tent City. Recently, several members,of Kitchener Rotary have been participating in hands-on projects at the centre. Household item donations, baking, cleaning and dinner prep have all been in the making! We have a "Catch The Ace" Winner Marg Azevedo, a Kitchener resident, took home $98,000 winning both the Weekly Prize and the Progressive Jackpot in Rotary of KW’s newest lottery, Catch the Ace, when her online card choice revealed the Ace of Spades. This elusive card was one of three which remained unpicked from a complete deck until the week 50 draw on August 26th.

We have been learning to use on-line platforms like Zoom in place of regular face to face meetings, which has allowed us to continue the work of Rotary. Given the continuing concerns with group meetings, we have made the decision to continue the suspension of in person meetings through to the end of June. We are intending, wherever possible, to replace those meetings with online Zoom meetings. |

Cancelled Meetings & Upcoming EventsMarch 15, 2020 Meeting Cancelled - Monday, March 16, 2020 - Crowne Plaza In light of the rapidly changing situation with COVID-19 the decision was made by our Board today to cancel our next meeting, tomorrow March 16th, 12:00 PM at the Crowne Plaza. The health and safety of our members, their families and our community is our first and foremost priority. We are listening closely/diligently monitoring messages and guidance from public health authorities and following/implementing as appropriate for our organization. As a result of this discussion, the decision was made to cancel the meeting tomorrow and to evaluate other upcoming dates.

Rotary Flags - Moscow On November 5th, visiting Rotarian Elena Shpinel presented club President Richard with a flag from Rotary Club Moscow International and welcomed any visitors to Moscow to attend a meeting, as the Club is the only English speaking club in the city.

Club Presentation to Junior Achievement On August 3rd, Club President Richard and President-elect Paul were pleased to present our Club's cheque for $1,500 to Brian Breckles, President, Junior Achievement, Waterloo Region. Junior Achievement requested our support to fund two students participation in The Junior Achievement Next Generation Leaders (NGL) Forum which takes place in London Ontario from August 19 to 24, 2018. This request was recently approved by our Foundation. |
