Club Meeting - Nogales Project Update

Nogales Mexico Shoebox & Beyond

Kitchener Rotary has been involved with a humanitarian project in Nogales Mexico since 2003.  Please join us on Monday evening, May 25 for an update outlining what was done in 2026 as well as recent years and the future of the project.  Our presenter will be former club member and project initiator, Cheryl Ewing.

NB! Pre-Registration and meal selection is required!

This will be an evening meeting at the Double Tree by Hilton in the Michigan Room with dinner served at a cost of $35, tax and gratuity included; paid in advance when registering.  Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the program commencing at 7:00 p.m.  Dinner includes coffee or tea and one of the main entrées listed below.  Indicate your meal selection and any dietary restrictions in the comment box on the registration confirmation screen.

Deadline for registering is Thursday, May21.

As per the information provided by President Elena our next Board Meeting will be  Wednesday, May 27, at the Double Tree by Hilton, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Again, to facilitate quick and easy serving of the meals we would like all board members attending to pre-order their dinner.  The meal options are below, and you are to indicate your selection in the comment box on the registration confirmation page.  The cost of the meal is $26 (tax and gratuity included).

House of Friendship: Innovating Care for Our Community

Needs across our community are growing and changing. House of Friendship responds with innovative approaches to housing, health, and community support. This presentation shares how integrated care creates stability, dignity, and better health outcomes. You will hear local stories, practical lessons, and how community partnerships strengthen care.

Our association with the House of Friendship is a long and meaningful one and we are delighted to have Jennifer Scott CEO of the House of Friendship with us to renew our connection.

We will be at the Charcoal Restaurant for this meeting in our regular room with lunch served at a cost of $32, tax and gratuity included; paid in advance when registering.  Doors open at 11:30 with the program commencing at 12:00 noon.  Lunch includes coffee or tea and one of the main entrées listed below.  Indicate your meal selection and any dietary restrictions in the comment box on the registration confirmation screen.

Deadline for registering is Thursday, June 4.

Main Entrée Options (Updated):

Charcoal Burger: fresh ground prime rib patty, smoked bacon, monterey jack cheese, dill pickle, tomato, shredded lettuce, roasted garlic aioli, toasted brioche bun with fries.

Turkey Burger: fresh seared patty, pickled red onion, chimichurri, guacamole, arugula, tomato, cotija & crispy prosciutto on a toasted potato chive bun, served with fries.

Creole Chicken Naan'wich: blackened and griled chicken breast served in a garlic buttered naan bread, cabbage slaw, tomato, chili crema & onion crisp, served with fries.

Applewood Cobb Salad: grilled marinated chicken, romaine, hard egg, tomato, cucumber, avocado, bacon strips, applewood smoked cheddar, crispy shallots, smoked paprika & buttermilk, ranch dressing.

Vegetarian Pad Thai: stir-fried vegetables, fried egg, bean sprouts, spiced peanuts, rice noodles, scallions, cilantro, sweet + sour peanut sauce.

Volunteers Requested to Help at KidsAbility Employee Celebration

Our association with KidsAbility goes back to our very early days and we have another opportunity to assist at one of their important events.

KidsAbility's all-employee summer celebration is fast approaching and we are hoping Rotary members might be interested in volunteering again this year!
We would appreciate if Rotary members could attend to assist with some of the food distribution, games, or to staff a table to explain what Rotary does in our community.

Details:
Join us for an afternoon of sunshine (hopefully!), great food, and a well-deserved opportunity to connect with colleagues as we kick off the summer season️. And of course, no summer celebration would be complete without a visit from the ice cream truck! 🍦

Club Annual Turnover Meeting

Annual Year-End Celebration and Turnover Meeting

Our annual Year-End Celebration and Turnover event is an opportunity for members and guests to come together to celebrate the good work we do in our community and to honour our outgoing and incoming leaders.

Please join us as we celebrate and thank Elena for her year of service as club president and welcome Vince as our new leader.  Our event will be at the St. George Restaurant in Waterloo which is fully accessible.

AGENDA:
6:30 - Registration / Networking
6:45 - Opening Remarks
7:00 - Meal
7:45 - Program / Presentations

8:30 - Conclusion

DINNER:
Dinner includes Coffee or Tea, Crepe for Dessert, and a glass of Beer or House Wine, and your choice of Entrée from the following:

Vienna Schnitzel (Your choice of Pork or Chicken Schnitzel served with grilled vegetables and home fries),
Chicken Skewers (Bacon wrapped chicken skewers served with home fries),
Grilled Salmon (Salmon fillet served with rice and grilled vegetables), and
Vegetarian Pasta.

Total cost $60, tax and gratuity included.

Please indicate your meal choice and any dietary restrictions in the comment box. If selecting the Schnitzel be sure to indicate Pork or Chicken.

If registring a guest be sure to save your own registration first, then add your guest and pay or both.

The deadline for registering is Wednesday, June 17, guests are welcome and encouraged.
